Hi all. I recently got into yoga and meditation. Signed up at one of the yoga centers. But I need accessories for a full class. I have already bought a mat. What is the best way to choose yoga blocks? Thank you in advance for any helpful tips.

As with any other accessory, budget is an important factor in choosing yoga blocks. Prices for blocks can vary depending on material, brand, and quality. If you are a beginner and just beginning your yoga practice, it may be wise to start with more affordable block options and then, as your practice progresses, invest in stronger and more durable blocks.

The stiffness level of the yoga blocks is also important to consider when choosing. Some blocks are softer and have more pliability, while others are stiffer and do not compress as easily. If you are a beginner or have difficulty with flexibility, soft stiffness blocks may be a better choice because they will help you find a comfortable and safe pose.

These accessories can be made of different materials such as wood, cogk (a natural material made from oak bark), foam and stone. Each material has its own advantages. Wood blocks are strong and stable, cogk blocks have good cushioning and stability, and foam blocks are soft and easy to transport. The size and shape of yoga blocks are also important when choosing. Most blocks have standard sizes, but you can choose the one that fits you best. Remember that blocks can be different heights, usually 3-4 inches, and have different shapes, such as rectangular or brick-shaped. The stiffness level of the blocks is also important for the comfort and safety of your practice. If you are a beginner, we recommend choosing blocks with soft or medium stiffness to give you more support and stability. More experienced practitioners may find blocks with higher stiffness for a more intense practice.
